If the result is not as specified, replace the shift lock control unit.

U250E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: SHIFT LEVER: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER OPERATION

(a) Inspect the shift lock operation.

(1) Move the shift lever to P.
(2) Turn the ignition switch off.
(3) Check that the shift lever cannot be moved from P to any other position.
(4) Turn the ignition switch to ON, depress the brake pedal, and check that the shift lever can be moved to another position.

If operation cannot be done as specified, inspect the shift lever assembly  See: Inspection.

(b) Inspect the shift lock release button operation.

(1) When moving the shift lever with the shift lock release button pressed, check that the shift lever can be moved from P to any other position.

(c) Check the key interlock operation.

(1) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(2) Depress the brake pedal and move the shift lever to any position other than P.
(3) Check that the ignition key cannot be turned to LOCK.
(4) Move the shift lever to P, turn the ignition key to LOCK and check that the ignition key can be removed.

If the operation cannot be done as specified, inspect the shift lever assembly  See: Inspection.
