Removal

U250E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: TRANSMISSION WIRE: REMOVAL

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
2. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID

(a) Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain ATF.
(b) Install a new gasket and the drain plug.

Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft-lbf)

3. REMOVE BATTERY See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine Assembly/Removal
4. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine

5. REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL FILLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY See: Sensors and Switches - A/T/Transmission Speed Sensor/Service and

Repair/Removal

6. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
7. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 18 bolts, oil pan and gasket.

NOTE:  Some fluid will remain in the oil pan. Carefully remove the oil pan sub-assembly.

(b) Remove the 2 magnets from the oil pan.

(c) Examine particles in the pan.

(1) Collect any steel chips with the removed magnets. Look carefully at the chips and particles in the pan and on the magnets to see the type of

wear which might be found in the transaxle.
Result:
Steel (magnetic)
bearing, gear and plate wear
Brass (non-magnetic)
bushing wear

8. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION WIRE
