Introduction 

On some 2003 Corolla and Matrix vehicles, customers may feel that there is no air flow from the center vents. A mode damper control cable adjustment
will correct this concern.

2003 model year Corolla and Matrix vehicles. 

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty *:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from
the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

1.

Verify Customer Concern.

A.

With the ignition on, turn the blower control to high.

B.

Turn the model control switch to defrost.

C.

Turn the mode control switch counterclockwise, from defrost to bi-level mode, noting the amount of air flow coming from the center vents
when in the bi-level mode.

D.

Turn the mode control switch to face.

E.

Turn the mode control switch clockwise, from face to bi-level mode noting the amount of air flow when in the bi-level mode.

F.

If the amount of air flow from the center vents, when in the bi-level position, is noticeably less when turning the mode switch
counterclockwise than it is when turning the mode switch clockwise, continue with this repair procedure.
