Timing Belt: Service and Repair
Timing Belt Removal
TIMING BELT COMPONENTS (3S-GTE)
REMOVAL OF TIMING BELT
1. Disconnect cable from negative terminal of battery.
CAUTION:Turn the ignition switch to "LOCK". Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. Wait at least 20 seconds before proceeding
with work.
2. Remove engine under covers.
3. Remove RH engine hood side panel.
4. Remove suspension upper brace.
5. (w/Cruise control system) Remove cruise control actuator and accelerator linkage.
6. Remove intercooler.
7. Remove RH rear wheel.
8. Remove alternator drive belt.
(a) Loosen the pivot and adjusting lock bolts.
(b) Loosen the adjusting bolt, and remove the drive belt.
