Wheel Hub: Service and Repair

1.
Raise and support vehicle and remove tire and wheel assembly.
2.
Remove cotter pin and bearing locknut cap, Fig. 1.
3.
With parking brake set, remove bearing locknut.
4.
Remove brake caliper from rear axle carrier and suspend out of way.
5.
Remove disc rotor, then ensure bearing play in axial direction does not exceed .002 inch.
6.
On 1991-92 models, disconnect stabilizer link and remove ABS speed sensor, if equipped, then remove bolt and nut, then suspension arm.
7.
On 1991-92 models, remove cotter pin and nut, then, using remover tool No. i09610-20012 or equivalent, disconnect suspension arm from rear
axle carrier, then remove bolt, nut and suspension arm.
8.
On all models, disconnect rear axle carrier from ball joint and lower arm.
9.
Scribe alignment marks on shock absorber lower bracket and camber adjusting cam.
10.
Remove two axle carrier set nuts and two bolts with camber adjusting cam.
11.
Remove rear axle carrier and axle hub. Cover driveshaft boot with cloth to prevent damage.
12.
Reverse procedure to install. Torque two axle carrier nuts, rear axle carrier to lower arm attaching nut, suspension arm attaching nut, brake caliper
attaching bolts and bearing locknut to specifications.
