1.
On models with audio coded anti-theft system, disable system as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
2.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then discharge system refrigerant.
3.
Disconnect refrigerant lines at cooling unit Fig. 8, capping all openings.
4.
Remove grommets from inlet and outlet fittings.
5.
Remove glove box, then the lower instrument panel cover.
6.
Disconnect cooling unit electrical connectors.
7.
Remove nuts and screws retaining cooling unit, then the cooling unit.
8.
On 1991-92 models, remove magnetic clutch relay and A/C amplifier from cooling unit.
9.
On models with coded audio anti-theft systems, loosen four screws and clamps, then remove upper and lower cases, Fig. 9.
10.
Remove packing and clamp from evaporator outlet tube, then disconnect refrigerant line from inlet fitting of expansion valve.
11.
Disconnect expansion valve from evaporator inlet fitting.
12.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Charge system and check for leaks. If evaporator is replaced, add 1.4 to 1.7 oz. of new refrigerant oil to compressor.
b. If audio system was disabled, activate as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
