Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair

1.

Raise and support vehicle.

2.

Remove union bolt and disconnect brake hose from disc brake caliper, draining brake fluid into suitable container.

3.

Remove clip from strut assembly and pull brake hose free of shock absorber, Fig. 6.

4.

On models with ABS, remove speed sensor harness from strut.

5.

Disconnect stabilizer link strut assembly.

6.

Scribe alignment marks on strut lower bracket and camber adjusting cam.

7.

Remove attaching nuts and bolts and disconnect steering knuckle and strut.

8.

Remove bolts securing top of suspension support and remove strut from body.

9.

Install bolt and two nuts to bracket at lower portion of the strut and secure assembly in suitable vise.

10.

Using strut compressor 09727-00045 and 09727-30020, or equivalent and compress coil spring.

11.

Using suitable tool to prevent spring seat from turning, remove top attaching nut.

12.

Remove suspension support, dust seal, spring seat, spring, insulator and bumper.

13.

Reverse procedure to install, ensuring that OUT mark on spring seat faces toward outside of vehicle. Torque the strut to body attaching nuts,
suspension support nut, lower attaching nuts and the brake line union bolt to specifications.
