Axle Shaft: Service and Repair
Removal

    The hub bearing may be damaged if it is subjected to vehicle weight, such as when moving the vehicle with the driveshaft removed.
Therefore, if it is absolutely necessary to place the vehicle weight on the hub bearing, first support it with tool bearing, 09608-16041 or
equivalent and a plate washer.

1.

Raise and support vehicle.

2.

Remove cotter pin and locknut cap.

3.

Set parking brake and remove locknut.

4.

Remove transmission protector.

5.

Depress brake pedal and loosen six nuts securing rear driveshaft to differential side gear shaft.

6.

Using plastic hammer, drive out driveshaft from axle hub.
