Brake Shoe: Testing and Inspection
LINING THICKNESS
1. Using a ruler, measure the thickness of the shoe lining.

Standard thickness: 4.0 mm (0.157 inch)

Minimum thickness: 1.0 mm (0.039 inch)
2. If the shoe lining is less than the minimum or shows signs of uneven wear, replace the Brake Shoes.
NOTE: If a Brake Shoes needs replacing, the Brake Shoes must be replaced as a set.
PROPER CONTACT
Inspect rear brake lining and drum for proper contact.
Inspect Contact Between Brake Lining And Drum

If the contact between the brake lining and drum is improper, repair the lining with a Brake Shoe grinder, or replace the Brake Shoe assembly.
