Transmission Position Switch/Sensor: Service and Repair
PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH REPLACEMENT
1. Disconnect park/neutral position switch connector.
2. Remove park/neutral position switch.
a. Remove the nut and disconnect control cable.
b. Using a screwdriver, pry off the nut stopper.
c. Remove the nut and stopper.
d. Remove the 2 bolts and park/neutral position switch.
3. Install and adjust park/neutral position switch.
a. Temporarily install the park/neutral position switch with the 2 bolts.
b. Install the nut and stopper.
Torque: 6.9 Nm (70 kgf/cm, 61 in.lbs.)
c. Stake the nut with stopper.
d. Adjust the park/neutral position switch.
When shifting the shift lever from the N position to other positions, check that the lever can be shifted smoothly and accurately to each
position and that the position indicator is not aligned with the correct position.
If the indicator is not aligned with the correct position, carry out the following procedure:

Loosen the nut on the control shaft lever.

Push the control shaft lever fully downward.

Return the control shaft lever 2 notches to the N position.

Set the shift lever to the N position.

While holding the shift lever lightly toward the R position side, tighten the shift lever nut.
Torque: 6.9 Nm (70 kgf.cm, 61 in.lbs.)

Start the engine and make sure that the vehicle moves forward when shifting the lever from the N to the D position and reverses when
shifting in to the R position.
