Axle Nut: Specifications
Rear

Install the rear axle hub by doing the following.

a. Install the axle hub.
b. Install the outer bearing and washer.
c. Temporarily install the nut.

Adjust the bearing preload by doing the following.

a. Tighten the nut to 29 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
b. Snug down the bearings by turning the axle hub several times.
c. Loosen the nut until it can be turned by hand.

d. Measure the rotation frictional force of the oil seal.

e. Tighten the nut until the preload is within standard. The Preload (with turning), frictional force plus should be 0-11.8 N (0 - 2.6 lbs.).

Install the lock cap and a new cotter pin.

g. Measure the hub axial play, it should be 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch) or less.
