1. Using pliers, compress the brake spring and slightly draw it out from the drum.
Note: Do not remove the shoe from the drum.
2. Measure the shoe thickness.
Minimum thickness: 1.0 mm (0.039 in.).
If the shoe thickness is less than the minimum, replace the brake assembly.
3. Using pliers, install the brake shoe all the way back.
