Removal

1.

Raise and support vehicle, clean exterior of transmission and drain fluid.

2.

Remove bolt from filler tube support, if equipped.

3.

Remove oil pan retaining bolts, pan and gasket, and filler tube. Use care when removing filler tube, so as not to distort tube or damage seal.

4.

Remove oil feed tubes, if equipped, by prying at both ends with suitable levers.

5.

Remove oil strainer retaining bolts, strainer and gasket.

6.

Support valve body and remove 17 retaining bolts, noting position of each bolt for assembly reference, then lower valve body.

7.

Disconnect throttle cable from cam, Fig. 3, and remove valve body.

Installation

1.

Push throttle cable fitting into cam, position valve body with manual valve aligned with manual lever and loosely install several retaining bolts to
hold valve body. Valve body retaining bolts are of different lengths, and must be properly positioned to avoid transmission damage.
Proper position is shown in Figs. 4 and 5. Bolt lengths are given in millimeters.

2.

Remove accumulator piston retaining plate, install remaining valve body bolts and tighten all bolts hand tight.

3.

Evenly tighten valve body bolts to specifications.

4.

Ensure that oil strainer is clean, install strainer using a new gasket and tighten to specifications.

5.

Press oil feed tubes into position by hand, if equipped.

6.

Install oil pan using a new gasket, evenly tighten to specifications, then install filler tube retaining bolts, if equipped.

7.

Install drain plug and tighten to specifications.

8.

Refill transmission to specified level and check transmission operation.
