Shifter A/T: Service and Repair
Replacement

SHIFT LEVER REMOVAL 

1. Remove hood release lever.

2. Remove cluster finish lower panel.
3. Remove steering column cover.

4. Remove shift control rod. 

a. Shift the shift lever in L position. 
b. Pull out the pin and disconnect the shift control rod. 

INSTALLATION HINT:  Check that the indicator is in the correct position.

5. Remove steering column assembly. 

HINT:  Check that the shift indicator cable is disengaged. 

Remove the bolt and 2 nuts, then remove the steering column assembly. 

REMOVAL NOTICE:  Do not loosen the lock nut on the brake pedal side when the steering column cover is disengaged. 

Torque:
-

Bolt: 14 N.m (10 ft. lbs.) 

-

Nut: 25 N.m (19 ft. lbs.)  

INSTALLATION HINT:  Shift the shift lever in L position. If the shift indicator bracket is not in L position, it will be bent.
