Fuel Pressure: Testing and Inspection
FUEL PRESSURE INSPECTION
Check fuel pressure.
(a)
Check the battery positive voltage is above 11 Volts.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.
(c)
Remove the LH engine service hole cover.
(d) Remove the union bolt and 2 gaskets, and disconnect the fuel inlet hose from the fuel filter.
CAUTION:

Put a suitable container or shop towel under the fuel filter.

Slowly loosen the union bolt.
(e)
Install the fuel inlet hose and Special Service Tool (SST) EFI Fuel Pressure Gauge # 09268 - 45012 or equivalent to the fuel filter outlet with
the 3 gaskets and SST (union bolt).
Torque: 29 Nm (300 kg.cm, 22 ft. lbs.)
(f)
Wipe off any splattered gasoline.
(g) Reconnect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery.
(h) Connect the TOYOTA hand-held tester or equivalent to the DLC3.
(i)
Measure the fuel pressure.
Fuel pressure: 226 - 275 kPa (2.3 - 2.8 kg/cm sq., 33 - 40 psi)
If pressure is high, replace the fuel pressure regulator. If pressure is low, check these parts:

Fuel hoses and connections.
^
Fuel pump.
^
Fuel filter.
^
Fuel pressure regulator.
(j)
Disconnect the TOYOTA hand-held tester or equivalent from the DLC3.
(K) Reinstall the center upper panel on instrument panel.
(l)
Start the engine.
(m) Disconnect the vacuum sensing hose from the union, and plug it.
