Steering Angle Sensor: Service and Repair
Removal
BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: STEERING ANGLE SENSOR: REMOVAL
NOTICE:

Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
*
While the battery is connected, even if the power switch is off, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is
depressed or any door courtesy switch is turned on. Therefore, when servicing the brake system components, do not depress the
brake pedal or open/ close the doors while the battery is connected.

2. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
3. REMOVE STEERING PAD

4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Wheel/Service and Repair/Removal
5. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Column/Service and Repair/Removal
6. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Column/Service and Repair/Removal
7. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR
(a) Remove the spiral cable with steering angle sensor See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable/Service
and Repair/Removal.
NOTICE:

Do not replace spiral cable with steering angle sensor with the battery connected and the power switch on (IG).
*
Do not rotate the spiral cable with steering angle sensor with the battery connected and the power switch on (IG).
*
Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering angle sensor.
*
Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
