Fuel Gauge: Testing and Inspection

INSPECT FUEL RECEIVER GAUGE OPERATION

1. Disconnect the connector from the main sender gauge assembly.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON, check that the receiver gauge needle indicates EMPTY.

3. Connect the main sender gauge.
4. Disconnect the connector from the sub sender gauge assembly.
5. Turn the ignition switch ON, check that the receiver gauge needle indicates EMPTY. 
6. Disconnect the main sender gauge.

7. Connect terminals 3 of the main sender gauge and terminal 1 of sub sender gauge on the wire harness side connectors through a 3.4 W test bulb.
8. Turn the ignition switch ON, check that the bulb lights up and receiver gauge needle moves toward the full side.

HINT:  Because of the silicon oil in the gauge. it will take a short time for the needle to stabilize.

If operation is not as specified. inspect the receiver gauge resistance.

INSPECT RECEIVER GAUGE RESISTANCE 

Measure the resistance between terminals.
