Removal

2AR-FE COOLING: THERMOSTAT: REMOVAL

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:  Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

2. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Throttle Body/Service and

Repair/Removal

3. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER See: Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine Assembly/Removal
4. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH See: Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine Assembly/Removal
5. REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT See: Engine/Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories/Drive Belt/Service and

Repair/Removal

6. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT See: Coolant/Service and Repair
7. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the generator assembly See: Starting and Charging/Charging System/Alternator/Service and Repair/Removal.

8. DISCONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE See: Radiator/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Removal
9. REMOVE WATER INLET

(a) Remove the 2 nuts and water inlet.

10. REMOVE THERMOSTAT

(a) Remove the thermostat.
(b) Remove the gasket from the thermostat.
