Push the tip of a screwdriver between the cowl top side upper panel and base of A pillar just behind the hood hinge (Refer to Figure 11.)

A.

Confirm the cowl top side upper panel is loose, if cowl is loose, proceed to step 11.

NOTE

Procedure can be performed on both sides.

B.

If cowl is not loose, STOP The source of the noise is coming from a different location. This TSB does NOT apply.

11.

Send the vehicle to the body shop

Repair the cowl top side upper panel area by performing recommended repair procedures. Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), and
the following manuals:

A.

Remove the seam sealer.

B.

Repair the cowl top side upper panel area by re-welding at a least 20 mm tack weld to the affected area. See Figure 12.

C.

Apply seam sealer and repaint the inner fender apron according to the paint manufacturer's recommendations.

Install fender, fender liner, bumper, and radiator support opening in the reverse order as removal.

13.

Connect battery and reinitialize sunroof, if equipped.

14.

Test drive vehicle and confirm noise is eliminated.
