Repair Procedure

1.

Confirm the shift lever is difficult to move between gear positions.

2.

Inspect the shift lever slide covers.

3.

If it appears deformed or broken, replace the shift lever slide covers.

4.

Remove the shift lever assembly.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2006 or 2007 model year RAV4 Repair Manual, Drivetrain - Automatic Transmission/Transaxle
- "U#### Automatic Transaxle: Floor Shift Assembly: Removal".

5.

Remove slide covers.

A.

While in the Park position, roll the bottom portion of the slide cover out of the rear guide.

8.

Install the shift lever assembly.

Refer to TIS, 2006 or 2007 model year RAV4 Repair Manual, Drivetrain - Automatic Transmission/Transaxle - "U#### Automatic Transaxle:
Floor Shift Assembly: Installation".

9.

Confirm the repair is effective by moving the shift lever through all gear positions.
