To improve engine operating smoothness when driving on downhill grades, the engine ECM program logic has been changed.

Affected Vehicles

1996 and 1997 model year RAV4 with manual transmission manufactured before VINs listed in Production Change Information table.

New parts may be used on previous vehicles. Old parts cannot be used on newer vehicles.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty:

This repair is covered under the Toyota Powertrain Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 60 months or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the
vehicle's in-service date.
