2. Check ring gear runout.

Using a dial indicator, check the ring gear runout:
Maximum runout: 0.1 mm (0.004 in.) 

3. Remove transfer ring gear.

a. Place matchmarks on both the ring gear mounting case and transfer ring gear.
b. Remove the 12 bolts.
c. Using a pin punch and hammer, tap out the transfer ring gear.

RING GEAR MOUNTING CASE ASSEMBLY 

1. Install transfer ring gear.

a. Clean the contact surface of the mounting case.
b. Heat the ring gear to about 100°C (212°F) in boiling water.
c. Carefully remove the ring gear from the water.
d. Clean the contact surface of the ring gear with cleaning solvent.
e. Quickly install the ring gear on the mounting case. 

HINT:  Align the matchmarks on the mounting case and connect the ring gear.

Install and torque the 12 bolts.
Torque: 97 N.m (71 ft. lbs.) 

2. Check ring gear runout.

Using a dial indicator check the ring gear runout.
Maximum runout: 0.1 mm (0.004 in.) 

3. Install mounting case side bearing.
