Vehicle Speed Sensor: Description and Operation

Vehicle Speed sensor NO.1 Circuit Description

The vehicle speed sensor outputs a 4-pulse signal for every revolution of the rotor shaft, which is rotated by the transmission output shaft via the driven
gear After this signal is converted into a more precise rectangular wave form by the wave form shaping circuit inside the combination meter, it is then
transmitted to the ECM. The ECM determines the vehicle speed based on the frequency of these pulse signals.

Vehicle Speed Sensor NO.2(Front Speed Sensor)

Vehicle Speed Sensor NO.2 Circuit Description

The front speed sensor detects the vehicle speed based on revolution of the ring gear and sends signals to the ECM. An AC voltage is generated in the
front speed sensor coil as the ring gear rotates, and this voltage is sent to the ECM.
The center differential clutch is controlled by the ECM based on the signals from the front speed sensor and rear speed sensor.
