INSPECT SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM

a. Check a diagnostic system.
b. Do a visual check which includes the following items with the front passenger's airbag assembly removed from the vehicle.

Check the deformation or cracks on the instrument panel and instrument panel reinforcement.

Check the damage on the connector and wire harness.

CAUTION:  For removal and installation of the front passenger airbag assembly and be sure to follow the correct procedure.

HINT:  If the instrument panel or instrument panel reinforcement is deformed or checked, never repair it. Always replace it with a new one.

REPLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS

CAUTION:  For replacement of the front passenger airbag assembly, See Removal and Installation. Be sure to follow the correct procedure.

STEERING WHEEL PAD AND SPIRAL CABLE

Vehicle not involved in collision:

a. Check a diagnostic system.
b. Do a visual check which includes the following item with the steering wheel pad (with airbag) installed in the vehicle.

Check cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the steering wheel pad top surface and in the grooved portion.

Vehicle involved in collision with airbag not deployed:
