Removal

2AR-FE COOLING: WATER PUMP: REMOVAL

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:  Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

2. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Throttle Body/Service and

Repair/Removal

3. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT OPENING COVER

(a) Using a clip remover, remove the 9 clips and radiator support opening cover.

4. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine Assembly/Removal
5. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT See: Cooling System/Coolant/Service and Repair
6. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine Assembly/Removal
7. REMOVE RADIATOR RESERVOIR

(a) Disconnect the No. 1 and No. 2 water by-pass hoses.
(b) Remove the 2 bolts and radiator reservoir.

8. REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT See: Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories/Drive Belt/Service and Repair/Removal
9. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the generator assembly See: Starting and Charging/Charging System/Alternator/Service and Repair/Removal.

10. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the bolt and V-ribbed belt tensioner.

11. REMOVE WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY
