Introduction

The 2006 model year RAV4 Towing Receiver Hitch kit produced prior to 12/1/2005 (date code 01L05) includes installation instructions with incorrect
torque specifications for the driver's side bolts, section 9, steps (a) and (b).

Correct torque specifications can be found in the Installation Instructions section of this bulletin, or in the Technical Information System (TIS), 2006
model year RAV4:

The corrected installation instructions for section 9, steps (a) and (b) are as follows:

Tighten Driver's Side Bolts

(a)

Tighten the three (3) M8 bolts on the bumper brackets to 38 N-m (28 lbf-ft).

(b)

Tighten all M12 x 35 bolts to 80 N-m (60 lbf-ft) in the sequence shown. (Fig. 9-1) 1-9.
