Inspection Procedure

If necessary, use an oil dye to confirm the source of the oil leak.

Refer to the repair procedure below ONLY if the oil leak source is located at one or both of the camshaft housings.

Disassemble - Part 1

Disassembly

Disassemble the engine to remove the timing cover and replace the RH and LH camshaft housing sub-assemblies.

1. Remove the engine assembly.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2006 or 2007 model year RAV4 Repair Manual, Engine/Hybrid System - Engine Mechanical -
"2GR-FE Engine Mechanical: Engine Assembly: Removal".

2. Remove the No. 1 oil pipe.
