Variable Valve Timing Actuator Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
NOTE: Cold and Hot in these sentences express the temperature of the sensors themselves. Cold is from - 10 degree C (14 degree F) to 50 degree C
(122 degree F) and Hot is from 50 degree C (122 degree F) to 100 degree C (212 degree F).
1. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
2. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD
3. INSPECT VVT SENSOR
a. Disconnect the VVT sensor connector.
b. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.
Resistance:
Cold: 835 to 1,400 ohms
Hot: 1,060 to 1,645 ohms
If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sensor.
c. Reconnect the VVT sensor connector.
d. Connect the VVT sensor connector.
4. INSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD
5. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
