Seat Position Sensor: Service and Repair
Removal
SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: SEAT POSITION SENSOR: REMOVAL
REMOVAL
CAUTION: Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS
airbag system before servicing See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Service Precautions.
HINT:
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
The procedure described below is for the LH side.
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected See: Testing and
Inspection/Programming and Relearning.
2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH (for Manual Seat)
(a) Remove the front seat assembly See: Body and Frame/Seats/Service and Repair/Front Seat Assembly (for Manual Seat)/Removal.
3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH (for Power Seat)
(a) Remove the front seat assembly See: Body and Frame/Seats/Service and Repair/Front Seat Assembly (for Power Seat)/Removal.
4. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD (for Manual Seat) See: Body and Frame/Seats/Service and Repair/Front Seat Assembly (for
Manual Seat)/Disassembly
5. REMOVE SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR (for Manual Seat)
(a) Disconnect the connector from the seat position airbag sensor.
(b) Using "TORX" socket wrench T30, remove the "TORX" screw and the seat position airbag sensor.
(c) Remove the seat slide position sensor protector from the seat position airbag sensor.
6. REMOVE SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR (for Power Seat)
(a) Disconnect the connector from the seat position airbag sensor.
(b) Using "TORX" socket wrench T30, remove the "TORX" screw and the seat position airbag sensor.
(c) Remove the seat slide position sensor protector from the seat position airbag sensor.
