AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: REAR AXLE HUB BOLT: REPLACEMENT

REPLACEMENT

HINT:

Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.

The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY  See: Brakes and Traction Control/Parking Brake System/Service and Repair/Disassembly
2. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB BOLT LH

(a) Using SST and a screwdriver or equivalent to hold the axle hub, remove the hub bolt.

SST: 09650-17011

3. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB BOLT LH

(a) Temporarily install a washer and hub nut to a new hub bolt as shown in the illustration.

NOTE:  Install hub nuts to prevent damage to the hub bolts.

(b) Using a screwdriver or equivalent to hold the hub, turn the hub nut until the bottom surface of the hub bolt head touches the axle hub.
(c) Remove the washer and hub nut.

NOTE:  Do not damage the threads of the hub bolts.

4. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY  See: Brakes and Traction Control/Parking Brake System/Service and Repair/Reassembly
