Sound Proofing / Insulation: Description and Operation
Low Vibration and Low Noise Body
1. General
Excellent sound insulation performance has been achieved through the use of sound insulation materials such as the dash panel silencer, hood silencer,
expandable foam in the pillars, damping materials such as asphalt sheet, and through the double-sealing of the front doors, in addition to the
high-performance body construction. A high level of noise vibration performance has been achieved by controlling the resonance frequency through the
use of mass dampers and dynamic dampers and controlling the airflow around the vehicle through the use of optimally shaped moldings, spats in front of
the tires, and fender seals.
2. Sound Absorbing and Vibration Damping Materials Dash Panel Silencers
^ Silencers have been provided on the sides of the dash panel facing the cabin interior and exterior to reduce engine noise.
^ A lightweight material with enhanced sound absorption characteristics has been adopted for the inner silencer facing the cabin interior to reduce noise
in the vehicle interior.
Hood Insulator
A hood insulator has been provided under the engine hood to reduce engine noise.
