Steering Angle Sensor: Service and Repair
Removal
BRAKE CONTROL: STEERING ANGLE SENSOR:
REMOVAL
1. PRECAUTION
CAUTION: Be sure to read "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing (See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Service
Precautions).
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.
NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. (See: Testing and
Inspection/Programming and Relearning/Repair Instruction - Initialization)
3. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
NOTE: When reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal after installing the steering sensor, check that the front tires and steering
wheel are kept aligned straight ahead before and after connecting the cable to the negative battery terminal.

5. REMOVE NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER (See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair/Steering

6. REMOVE STEERING PAD (See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair/Steering Pad/Removal)
7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Column/Service and Repair/Removal)
8. REMOVE STEERING LOWER COLUMN COVER (See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Column/Service and Repair/Removal)

10. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR (See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Clockspring

11. REMOVE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR
(a) Disengage the claws and remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
