1. INSPECT SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR (VEHICLE NOT INVOLVED IN COLLISION)

(a) Perform a diagnostic system check  (See: Air Bag Systems/Testing and Inspection/Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes/DTC

Check / Clear).

2. INSPECT SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG IS NOT DEPLOYED)

(a) Perform a diagnostic system check  (See: Air Bag Systems/Testing and Inspection/Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes/DTC

Check / Clear).

(b) When the door of the vehicle or its periphery is damaged, check if there is any damage to the side airbag sensor assembly. If there are any

defects as mentioned below, replace the side airbag sensor assembly with a new one:

-

Cracks, dents or chips in the case.

-

Cracks or other damage to the connector.

-

Peeling off of the label or damage to the serial number.

3. INSPECT SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED)

(a) Replace the side airbag sensor assembly  (See: Air Bag Systems/Impact Sensor/Service and Repair/Side Airbag Sensor/Removal).

Spiral Cable

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: SPIRAL CABLE:

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE

(a) If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the spiral cable with a new one: 

Scratches, cracks, dents or chips on the connector or the spiral cable.

Steering Pad

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: STEERING PAD:

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT STEERING PAD (VEHICLE NOT INVOLVED IN COLLISION)

(a) Perform a diagnostic system check  (See: Air Bag Systems/Testing and Inspection/Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes/DTC

Check / Clear).

(b) With the steering pad installed on the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the steering pad

with a new one: 

-

Cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the steering pad top surface or in the grooved portion.

2. INSPECT STEERING PAD (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG HAS NOT DEPLOYED)

(a) Perform a diagnostic system check  (See: Air Bag Systems/Testing and Inspection/Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes/DTC

Check / Clear).
