Differential Case: Specifications
Differential Case To:
Ring Gear* ................................................................................................................................................ 64 Nm (47 ft. lbs.) Plus An Additional 60-90°
* The following procedure must be followed when installing the ring gear to the differential case.
1. Clean the contact surfaces of the differential case, threads of ring gear and differential case.
2. Heat ring gear in boiling water.
3. Carefully remove ring gear from boiling water.
4. After moisture on the ring gear has completely evaporated, quickly install ring gear to differential case.
5. Temporarily tighten 2 bolts so that bolt holes in ring gear and differential case are not misaligned.
6. After ring gear has cooled sufficiently, install new ring gear set bolts to which thread lock has been applied.
NOTICE: New ring gear set bolts should be used in every case.
7. Torque the set bolts uniformly and a little at a time.
NOTICE: Tighten the bolts in diagonally opposite pairs.
