Remove No. 1 lower suspension arm attaching nut from axle carrier, then using suitable puller, disconnect suspension arm, Fig. 10,

Disconnect No. 2 lower suspension arm and strut rod from axle carrier.

9.

Disconnect shock absorber from axle carrier.

10.

Disconnect upper control arm from body, then remove axle carrier and upper control arm as an assembly.

11.

Remove upper arm-to-axle carrier attaching nut, then separate components.

12.

Remove brake backing plate from axle carrier.

Inspection

1.

Flip ball joint stud back and forth five times, then install nut.

2.

Using torque wrench, turn nut continuously one turn each 2-4 seconds and take torque reading on fifth turn.

3.

If turning torque is not 9-30 inch lbs., replace upper control arm.

Installation

1.

Install upper control arm to body. Do not tighten attaching nuts at this time.

2.

Install axle carrier on upper control arm and install new nut. Do not tighten at this time.

3.

Install No. 1 suspension arm on axle carrier. Torque attaching nut to 43 ft. lbs.
