Valve Clearance: Adjustments

NOTE:  Inspect and adjust the valve clearance when the engine is cold.

1. Remove ignition coils assemblies, refer to Powertrain Management.

No. 4 Timing Belt Cover

2. Disconnect the engine wire from the four wire clamps, then lift out the engine wire protector from the cylinder head covers.

3. Remove the engine wire protector bolt, and disconnect the ground strap, then the two bolts, and lift up the engine wire protector.

IAC Valve Pipe

4. Remove Idle Air Control (IAC) valve pipe as follows:

(a) Disconnect the five air hoses from the IAC valve pipe.
(b) Remove the IAC valve pipe from the pipe clamp on the No. 1 cylinder head cover.
