e. The drive shaft is designed to move ±20 mm from the standard position.
Drive shaft standard length:
Less Turbo (2JZ-GE):
RH side: 598.1 mm (23.547 inch)
LH side: 552.2 mm (21.740 inch)
With Turbo (2JZ-GTE):
Manual Transmission:
RH side: 598.5 mm (23.602 inch)
LH side: 547.5 mm (21.555 inch)
Automatic Transmission:
RH side: 598.5 mm (23.602 inch)
LH side: 553.5 mm (21.791 inch)
7. Install new end cover.
a. Pack grease into the end cover.
Grease capacity:
Less Turbo (2JZ-GE): 68 - 73 g (2.4 - 2.6 oz.)
With Turbo (2JZ_GTE): 50 - 55 g (1.8 - 1.9 oz.)
b. Clean the surface of the inboard joint facing the cover.
c. Glue on a new gasket, with the side with adhesive on it facing toward the outer race side of the inboard joint.
d. Align the bolt holes of the cover with those of the inboard joint.
e. Install the six hexagon bolts and three washers to the end cover side.
f.
Install the six nuts to the boot side.
g. Less Turbo (2JZ-GE):
Using a 8 mm hexagon wrench, tighten the bolts. Do this in the order shown, and repeat several times.
h. With Turbo (2JZ-GTE):
Using a 10 mm hexagon wrench, tighten the bolts. Do this in the order shown, and repeat several times.
i.
Check that the claw of the end cover touches the inboard joint.
8. Check drive shaft.
