Disassembly

1.

Remove turn pressure tube bracket, then using power steering hose nut wrench tool No. 09633-00020 or equivalent, remove turn pressure tubes
and O-rings.

2.

Secure gear housing in a vise.

3.

Loosen locknut and place matchmarks on tie rod and rack ends, then remove tie rod ends and locknuts.

4.

Remove rack boot clips and clamps, then rack boots. Mark left and right boots accordingly.

5.

Unstake claw washers, avoid any impact to rack, using variable open wrench No. 09922-10010, remove rack ends.

6.

Mark left and right rack ends accordingly, then remove claw washers.

7.

Remove rack guide spring cap locknut, then rack guide spring cap.

8.

Remove rack guide spring cap and rack guide, then O-ring from rack guide.

9.

Remove rack housing cap.

10.

Using steering worm bearing adjusting socket tool No. 09616-00010 or equivalent to hold control valve, remove self-locking nut.

11.

Remove control valve housing as follows:
a. Place matchmarks on valve housing and rack housing, then remove dust cover and two bolts.
b. Pull out valve with valve housing.
c. Remove gasket from rack housing.
