Receiver Gauge Resistance Inspection

RECEIVER GAUGE RESISTANCE INSPECTION

1.

Disconnect connector from sender gauge.

2.

Turn ignition switch ON, then check receiver gauge needle indicates COOL.

3.

Ground terminal on wire harness side connector through a 3.4W test bulb.

4.

Turn ignition switch ON, then check bulb lights up and receiver gauge needle moves toward hot side.

5.

If operation is as specified, replace sender gauge, then recheck system.

6.

If operation is not as specified, measure receiver gauge resistance between terminals A, B and C, Fig. 70.

7.

On models with tachometer, resistance should be as follows:
a. A-B: about 150.0 ohms.
b. A-C: about 54.0 ohms.
c. B-C: about 138.0 ohms.

8.

On models less tachometer, resistance should be as follows:
a. A-B: about 25.0 ohms.

HINT:  Connect the test leads so that the current from the ohmmeter can flow according to the above order. This circuit includes the diode.

9.

If resistance is not as specified, replace receiver gauge.
