When using an equivalent aftermarket tool, make sure it was designed specifically for the repair procedure that you are performing.

DO NOT use a tool (i.e. do not use a pickle fork) that will damage the dust boot.

The tool shown in the illustration may differ from the actual tool used.
(d) Remove and discard the nut.
(e) Repeat the procedure on the opposite tie rod.
4. DISCONNECT THE STEERING DAMPER FROM THE RELAY ROD
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin.
(b) Loosen the nut.
(c) Using the SST, disconnect the steering damper from the relay rod.
