Canister Purge Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (VSV) INSPECTION 

1. REMOVE VSV

Disconnect the connector and 2 EVAP hoses, and remove the screw and VSV.

2. INSPECT VSV

A. Inspect VSV for open circuit

Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.

Resistance: At 20°C (68°F): 29 - 33 ohm 

If resistance is not as specified. replace the VSV.

B. Inspect VSV for ground

Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between each terminal and the body.
If there is continuity, replace the VSV.

C. Inspect VSV operation

(a) Check that air flows difficulty from port E to port F.
(b) Apply battery positive voltage across the terminals.
