Measure the hub axial play.
Axial play: 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch) or less.
9. Install lock cap, cotter pin and grease cap.
a. Install the lock cap and a new cotter pin.
b. Install the grease cap.
10. Install brake caliper. Install the 2 brake caliper set bolts.
Torque to 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.)
11. w/ ABS: Connect ABS speed sensor and wire harness clamp to steering knuckle.
Torque to 8.0 Nm (71 inch lbs.).
12. Install front wheel.
Torque to 110 Nm (83 ft. lbs.)
13. Check front wheel alignment.
14. w/ ABS: Check ABS speed sensor signal.
Inspection and Repair
FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING INSPECTION AND REPAIR
1. Check hub bearings. Clean the bearings and outer races and inspect them for wear or damage.
2. Remove bearing outer races. Using SST 09527 - 17011, a brass bar and a hammer, remove the bearing outer races.
NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the ABS speed sensor rotor.
3. Install new bearing outer races.
a. Using SST 09527-17011, 09950-60010 (09951-00640), 09950-70010 (09951 -07150) and a press, install a new inside bearing race.
b. Using SST 09527-17011, 09950-60010 (09951-00490), 09950-70010 (09951-07150) and a press, install a new outside bearing race.
