Throttle Valve Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair
A43D, A46DE & A46DF Transmissions

1. Remove air cleaner, as required.
2. Disconnect cable housing from bracket and retaining clips, and cable from throttle lever.
3. Raise and support vehicle and remove valve body as outlined.
4. Press cable out of transmission housing using a 10mm socket.
5. Install replacement cable in transmission housing ensure cable housing is fully seated.
6. Reinstall valve body as outlined, then lower vehicle.
7. Mark replacement cable for adjustment as follows:

a. Pull inner cable from housing until slight resistance can be felt, and hold in this position. Replacement cable does not have a cable stop,

stake stopper.

b. Pull inner cable lightly until slight resistance is felt and hold it.
c. Stake stopper .031-.059 inch, Fig. 19.

8. Reconnect cable to throttle lever and brackets, then adjust cable as outlined.
9. Ensure transmission is filled to specified level and road test vehicle.
