Valve Spring: Testing and Inspection
INSPECT VALVE SPRINGS
1. Using a steel square, measure the deviation of the valve spring.
Maximum deviation: 2.0 mm (0.079 inch)
If the deviation is greater than maximum, replace the valve spring.
2. Using a spring tester, measure the tension of the valve spring at the specified installed length.
Installed tension: 177 - 204 N (39.7 - 45.9 lbs.) at 35.7 mm (1.406 inch)
If the installed tension is not as specified, replace the valve spring.
