Tacoma Extra Cab 2WD L4-2438cc 2.4L DOHC MFI (1997)
Idle Speed: Adjustments
1. Initial conditions.
(a)
Engine coolant at normal operating temperature.
(b) Air cleaner installed.
(c)
All pipes and hoses of air induction system connected.
(d) All accessories switched OFF.
(e)
All vacuum lines properly connected.
NOTE: All vacuum hoses for EGR system, etc. should be properly connected.
(f)
Multiport Fuel Injection (MFI) system wiring connectors fully plugged.
(g) Ignition timing set correctly.
(h) Transmission in neutral position.
2. Connect TOYOTA hand-held tester or OBD II scan tool or equivalent.
3. Inspect idle speed.
(a)
Race the engine speed at 2,500 rpm for approximately 90 seconds.
(b) Check the idle speed.
Idle speed: 650 - 750 rpm
NOTE: If the idle speed is not as specified, check the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve and MFI system.
4. Disconnect TOYOTA hand-held tester or OBD II scan tool or equivalent.
