Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
Disassembly and Reassembly
DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove piston and cylinder boot.
a. Put a piece of cloth or an equivalent between the piston and caliper.
b. Use compressed air to remove the piston and cylinder boot from the caliper.
CAUTION: Do not place your fingers in front of the piston when using compressed air.
2. Remove piston seal from brake caliper.
Using a screwdriver, remove the piston seal.
3. Remove sliding bushing and boot.
Remove the sliding bushing and boot from the torque plate.
HINT: At the time of installation, ensure that the sliding bushing and boot is secured firmly to the caliper grooves.
