Power Steering Fluid: Testing and Inspection
Fluid Pressure Check
1. Connect SST.
a. Disconnect the pressure feed tube from the PS vane pump.
b. Connect the SST 09640-10010 (09641-01010, 09641-01030, 09641-01060), as shown.
NOTICE: Check that the valve of the SST is in the open position.
2. bleed power steering system.
3. Boost fluid temperature.
a. Start the engine and run it at idle.
b. Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times to boost fluid temperature.
Fluid temperature: 80° C (176° F)
4. Check fluid pressure reading with valve closed. With the engine idling, close the valve of the SST and observe the reading on the SST.
Fluid pressure: 8,336 kPa (1,209 psi) Minimum
NOTICE:

Do not keep the valve closed for more than 10 seconds.

Do not let the fluid temperature become too high.
