IV. Background

On certain 2005 Model Year Tacoma Regular Cab (no rear seat) vehicles equipped with a front bench seat, the Seat Position and Seatbelt Buckle Sensor
Wire Harness Connector pins are positioned incorrectly due to a wire harness manufacturing process error. In this condition, the seat position and
seatbelt buckle sensor may not function as designed, which, if the vehicle is involved in a crash, could result in improper occupant restraint. In the worst
case, this may lead to an increased possibility of injury. Please note that even in this condition, the affected vehicles continue to comply with all
applicable federal motor vehicle safety standards.
