Fuel Tank: Testing and Inspection

1. Inspect fuel tank for leaks caused by rust-out, road hazards and/or accident.  If the fuel tank is structurally damaged in any way, replace the fuel

tank.  Refer to COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND REAIR PROCEDURES for the proper procedure.  In the event of severe fuel
contamination, the fuel tank can be removed, all the components removed from the tank, and the tank can then be flushed.

WARNING: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO WELD ON A FUEL TANK TO REPAIR A LEAK OR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE. EVEN AFTER

FLUSHING, THE FUEL TANK PRESENTS A POTENTIALLY FATAL EXPLOSION HAZARD.

2. Inspect fuel tank vapor system hoses and connections for looseness, kinks or damage.
3. Inspect tank mounting bands for looseness or damage and repair as required.
4. Inspect filler neck for leakage or damage and repair as required.
5. Inspect filler cap for proper vent valve action.  Clean or replace as neccessary.
