Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair

1.

Raise and support vehicle.

2.

On 1989-90 models, remove brake hose clip from strut and disconnect brake hose from caliper, then pull brake hose from strut and allow to drain
into suitable container.

3.

On 1991-92 models, disconnect brake hose to shock absorber attaching bolt.

4.

On all models, scribe alignment marks on strut lower bracket and the camber adjusting cam.

5.

Remove two bolts and nuts and disconnect from steering knuckle.

6.

Remove three nuts attaching strut to body, then remove strut from body. Cover driveshaft boot with cloth to avoid damage.

7.

Install bolt and nuts on bracket at lower portion of strut shell and secure assembly in suitable vise.

8.

Using tool No. 09727-30020 or equivalent, compress coil spring.

9.

Using tool No. 09729-22031 or equivalent, hold spring seat, then remove support nut.

10.

Remove suspension support, spring seat, spring and dust cover.

11.

Reverse procedure to install. Tighten all attaching nuts and bolts to specifications.
